In a world dominated by rigid, uninspiring bed frames, Heidi saw an opportunity to create something truly unique–a bed frame that was not only beautiful and stylish but also incredibly cushioned and user-friendly. Redefining the bed frame was an exciting challenge, but it had to be done to save our toes.
Designing a revolutionary new product doesn’t happen often. It takes vision, dedication, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. That's exactly what she did when set out to reinvent the traditional bed frame.
The Story Begins
Heidi's passion for design and function led her to question the very foundations of traditional bed frame design. She knew there had to be a better solution than to surround ourselves with unforgiving hardwood or upholstered wood beds when a bed should be a place of comfort and relaxation.
Originally, Heidi set out to make an innovative platform bed base, made simply of four beautiful planks of wood, that connected and secured with a dowel at each corner and surrounded or corralled a standard box spring whose job was to support the mattress. The wooden planks that surrounded the box spring were a creative alternative to purchasing a bulky and heavy wood or upholstered bed frame and it was also easy to put together, take apart and transport.
Then one sunny afternoon, Heidi needed to reupholster a cushion. She walked into a neighborhood upholstery and foam shop, and that’s when the ah-ha moment struck. Why surround ourselves with these unforgiving materials when a bed should be a place of comfort and relaxation? Why not foam? Foam is structured, it comes in all shapes and sizes, and different densities, all while being lightweight and protective.
This simple yet profound question would become the driving force behind the creation of SoftFrame Designs.
Selecting the Right Materials
The first step in this process was to carefully select the materials that would be used in the original SoftFrame Designs bed frames. After brainstorming and testing, Heidi landed on CertiPUR-US-certified foam as the foundation for our innovative bed frames. This high-density, lightweight foam not only provided the plush, cushioned surface that Heidi envisioned, but it also met rigorous safety standards.
Crafting the Perfect Design
Heidi was committed to crafting a product that not only looked good but felt good. She spent countless hours perfecting the aesthetic of the SoftFrame Designs bed frames, drawing inspiration from the clean lines and minimalist sensibilities of Scandinavian design.
The goal was to create a bed frame that was truly timeless, one that would complement a wide range of decor styles and stand the test of time. This led them to focus on simple, elegant silhouettes and high-quality fabrics that would elevate the bedroom.
Partnering with Skilled Artisans
To bring these visions to life, Heidi partnered with a team of skilled artisans and seamstresses in Los Angeles, where the brand's products are proudly manufactured. Each bed frame is meticulously crafted by hand, with the utmost attention to detail and quality.
The manufacturing process is truly a labor of love, with every stitch, every curve, and every inch of these bed frames crafted with the utmost care and precision.
